About Adams & Associates

Adams & Associates, LLC is a small, woman-owned business that specializes in facilitation of value methodology (VM) workshops –– including value engineering (VE), value analysis (VA), and value improvement (VI) approaches –– all based on the SAVE-approved six-step VM Job Plan. In addition to traditional VM workshops, our CVSs are experienced facilitating:

  • Value-based program/project planning and design charrettes
  • Large program-level and business process review workshops
  • Lessons learned reviews
  • After-action reviews
  • Consensus-building workshops
  • Conflict resolution
  • Executive coaching

Our core team comprises two Certified Value Specialists (CVS®), located in Colorado and Washington. Our CVSs have worked for dozens of municipal, state, and federal agencies, as well as private sector A/E firms and corporations of various types, throughout the United States and Canada. Additionally, we have several subcontractor CVSs to support AALLC when we need additional coverage to meet client requirements.

We believe the success of a VM workshop is largely dependent upon the expertise and specialization of the VM teams, and the nature of our work frequently requires a solid team of subject matter experts. We are proud to have an established network of such experts from small, minority- and woman-owned businesses, as well as worldwide A/E firms. We have incredible access to major firms largely because, as a small specialized organization, we offer them an opportunity to partner, as opposed to representing a competitive threat, and get their staff in front of potential clients.

Our cadre of team leaders is experienced with a variety of project types:

  • Municipal public safety/Emergency services
  • Medical examiner facilities
  • Hospitals & Labs
  • Office Buildings
  • Bridges, both fixed and movable
  • Schools
  • Recreation areas, parks, and pools
  • Dams and dikes
  • Waterfront facilities
  • Process improvement studies
  • Infrastructure related to water supply conveyance and pumping
  • Wastewater treatment plant expansions
  • Military construction
  • Government owned and operated facilities

The Value Methodology

All VE studies facilitated by the AALLC CVSs, regardless of the client for whom the work is being performed, follow the SAVE Value Methodology Standard, as well as ASTM Standard Practice E1699-14.  The process used by AALLC and our subconsultant CVSs is illustrated as follows:

AALLC’s approach to VE studies is founded on the premise that the goal of every workshop is to improve value to the customer/user, which does not always translate to reduced cost. This improvement results from clear communication and strong collaboration between our staff and our clients, and is fulfilled through professionally facilitated application of the Value Methodology Job Plan. Through this process, a VE team develops proposals that optimize the relationship between resources, function, and quality to meet the customer’s goals and objectives.

All assignments are tailored to meet the client’s specific needs, based on the complexity of the project, the stakeholder priorities, and project goals.
